Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a succulent plant whose inner leaf gel has been used across many cultures for skin and wound care for thousands of years, long before it became a staple cosmetic ingredient. In cosmetics it is usually listed as Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract or Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, names referring to the species most commonly cultivated for this purpose.

Aloe gel is more than 98% water, which explains its lightweight hydration and rapid absorption. It also contains polysaccharides, including acemannan, as well as vitamins and enzymes with documented roles in supporting wound healing and calming inflammation. Clinical research on the healing and anti-inflammatory effects of aloe vera is broader than for many newer botanical extracts, so its soothing reputation is supported by evidence rather than tradition alone.

Suitable for almost every skin type. Sensitive, sun-exposed or irritated skin may benefit most directly, while its lightweight texture also suits oily and combination skin that needs hydration without heaviness.

The role of aloe depends on its concentration, extract quality and the complete formula. Its position in the INCI list provides only general context and does not by itself determine the strength of the product.
