Epidermal Growth Factor, or EGF, is a signaling protein naturally found in the body. The cosmetic version is produced through recombinant biotechnology and may appear in the INCI list as sh-Oligopeptide-1, rh-Oligopeptide-1 or a similar name depending on the supplier's system.

EGF binds to specific receptors on the surface of cells and supports signals involved in normal epidermal renewal.
